Scraplift? Blog?

Let's Connect On-Line Crop

In Christa's Words

Since I have been scrapbooking in earnest, I have enjoyed blogging and visiting the blogs of my scrappy friends. I find those blogs a great source of inspiration and it undoubtedly gets my 'mojo' flowing!

For our online crop I drew the "BLOG" card and wanted to share with you a challenge inspired by the concept of staying connected through BLOGS.

The biggest way to be inspired by BLOGS is to used the idea of a "SCRAPLIFT". Who hasn't been inspired by a technique or a sketch on a blog? Since I visit many many many blogs in the course of a week, I wanted to encourage you to do the same!

I challenge you to VISIT one of the DESIGN TEAM'S blogs and choose a design to scraplift. In order to satisfy the challenge you will need to:

1. Create an original never before seen design based on a creation from Carolyn, Joanne, Shelby, Christa, Ann, Jayne or Amanda's blogs

I chose to scraplift from Joanne's blog  http://ilovesketches.blogspot.ca/
(I picked Christa to scraplift last time).

"Tweet" Challenge

Shelby's challenge for the Two Scrapbook Friends 'Let's Connect Online Crop'

In Shelby's words:
For my social media tool I was given "TWITTER". I don't tweet and really wasn't too sure what Twitter is all about but the first thing that came to my mind was to use a bird on your project. Simple right? So that's what I did! I even found a photo that was centered on the bird theme:

SO, to participate in this challenge there must be a bird somewhere on your card, layout or altered project. Also, just for fun, keep all letters (title, journalling etc) to under 140 characters because that's the rule for a Tweet

I'm with Shelby, I do not use twitter either and only have a idea what it is so
for my version of the "Tweet" I made a card using  Authenique papers Free Bird open stock paper collection (seemed appropriate) and added a little wooden veneer bird.

A Recipe for Success!

Welcome to Jayne's challenge for the Two Scrapbook Friends 'Let's Connect Online Crop' and in this category it's all about 'Facebook' baby!

In Jayne's words...
I know how much you ladies love Christa's Recipe Contests which she runs periodically in the Forum, so I thought I'd do a similar thing here.
Below you'll see I've taken a few of the most common elements associated with Facebook, alongside which is an explanation of the technique/embellishment you are required to include in your creation.
I would like you to choose 3 (or more!) 'ingredients' for your recipe and include these on your card, layout or whatever other ingenious creation you would like to dazzle us with!

Here are your options:

Facebook: Include a photo/digi/stamp that is a close up or headshot. The 'Spotlight' technique would also qualify for the cardmakers amongst us.

Wall: Use something to create a wall (stencil/embossing folder/die cut blocks or shapes).

Post: Use journalling somewhere (strips, computer/handwritten, or a sentiment).

Like: Use a favourite tool/embellishment.

Tag: Use a tag.

Friends: Include photographs of friends or some reference to the word friends in your title/sentiment.

Poke: Include an arrow or pointed finger (like one of those cool vintage hand images with the pointed finger that seems to be popping up everywhere!).

Albums: Use 3 or more photographs/images/stamps.

Music: Use a song title or lyrics in your title/sentiment/journalling. Or you could even go literal here and use musical notes on your creation.

Games: Include some reference to a game such as in your photo's/image, title, journalling, embellishments
.

So for my version of this challenge  I used 5 ingredients:

Facebook; Headshot/close up Photo
Wall: Embossing folder of blocks/bricks for my wall
Like: A favourite tool...I used my fav punch by Fiskars wavy bracket and Ranger distress ink (Anitque Photo) that I use on nearly every page.
Friends: Use the word friends in the  title.
Poke: Studio Calico HAPPINESS speech bubble.

Jayne said we only had to use 3 ingredients but most of my cooking recipes have 5 ingredients or less  so it was easy to add a few more when I started the embellishments.

Check out this and other challenges at Two Scrapbok Friends forum.  Have fun.

February Birthday Cards

I went to a Copics colouring class last February that included a kit for this card.
I intended to give it to my mother for her birthday last year but did not finish it,
so here it is a year later...all done.

Happy Birthday Mom

My downfall with copics is mostly hair and blending the shades. but I think it is getting better. I either do too much or not enough, someday I'll get it just right.

The second February birthday is for my son in law....hope he likes this one.
The hot air balloon stamp is from My Creative Times (link below) and I paper pieced the balloon and coloured the basket with copics.  The clouds is a die cut from My Creative Times. The sentiment is a Bug cut from the Scrapping Bug. that I had for years from my stash.

Happy Birthday John
That's all for now....have a great day.

Scrapfest 2012

Here are my scrapping family ....

my daughter, sister and I at Scrapfest Kitchener 2012

Jo-Ann, Janet & I at Scrapfest 2012

I used the patterned background for Shimelle's challenge using busy paper and the 5 for 5 for Two Scrapbbok Friends challenge from Shelby.  Shelby supplied the striped paper, the bird paper, the happy pin, the brown paper flower and the green circle. Normally I would make a card with these items but decided at the last minute to make a page with our photo by Sue Sykes from Scrapfest.
